Day Eight-Two: Gentle Healing Sounds-Tibetan Singing Bowls-Spiritual Trinkets-Lesson One

If you want to start proclaiming that you are at one with your spiritual

self you may want to think about adding a very special Tibetan Singing

Bowl to your collection of Spiritual Trinkets. Though they can add

aesthetic brilliance to your spiritual alter-creating sound from a

Tibetan Singing Bowl can bring you closer to the core of your being.

I have been on a decades long search for ‘my’ Tibetan Singing Bowl

and I feel that it must compel me…whisper my name…call out to me

that it is mine…

Therefore; I have yet to add one to my ever growing collection of

spiritual trinkets. It is possible to access hundreds upon thousands of

incredible Youtube videos, CD’s, online music, ever the archaic cassette

tapes filled with the healing sounds of the Tibetan Singing Bowl.

You may recall a Yoga or Meditation class that you took where the

instructor introduced the class and closed it with her or his bowl.

If you close your eyes tightly enough while you listen to the song of

the Singing Bowl you will be instantly transported to another place

and time…where you are suspended on a hilltop high above the

mountains of Tibet…over looking the most serene and ornate

monastery carved into the shimmering silver rock of the Himalayan

For more Information on the History of Tibetan Singing Bowls

Below is an Excerpt from Bodhisattva Trading Company Inc.

According to Tibetan oral tradition, the existence of singing bowls dates back to the time of the historical Buddha Shakyamuni (560 – 480 B.C.). The tradition was brought from India to Tibet, along with the teachings of the Buddha, by the great tantric master Padmasambhava in the 8th century A.D.

Singing bowls produce sounds which invoke a deep state of relaxation which naturally assists one in entering into meditation, the ultimate goal being enlightenment. They are a quintessential aid to meditation, and can be found on private Buddhist altars, and in temples, monasteries and meditation halls throughout the world.

Metallurgical analysis have varied, from a predominantly two metal alloy of copper and tin with trace iron content (Oxford University, UK) to an eight alloy of copper and tin with traces of iron, lead, zinc, gold, silver and mercury (Concordia University, Quebec).

In addition to their traditional usage for meditation, Tibetan singing bowls are used for deep relaxation, stress reduction, holistic healing, Reiki, chakra balancing, and World music. Many people find that the rich blend of harmonic overtones which the bells produce have a direct affect upon their chakras.

Playing the bells usually causes an immediate centering effect. The tones set up a “frequency following response” that creates a balancing left/right brain synchronization. Meditating on the subtle sounds of the Tibetan singing bowl tunes one in to the universal sound within and without.

Day Forty-Five: Lesson 1-Healing A Broken Spirit-Caring for Your Heart Chakra

A dear friend of mine who had risen like a phoenix from very challenging

personal circumstances invited me to join her in taking the Reiki Level

One course. It just so happened that it fell a mere two days after I

went on my medical leave. Coincidence? Divine Intervention? I

was really at my lowest point and sitting in a room healing and being

healed sounded very daunting to me. I had nothing but fumes left

and couldn’t imagine how I could get through eight hours of lessons

without crying frequently and crumbling up into shards in the corner

of the room. How could I muster up enough strength to share myself

with a room full of strangers.

I urged myself to go; without knowing what path I would take and

it was the perfect choice. The first level of Reiki focuses on balancing

your own spiritual energies and also how to protect yourself, emphatically

from negative energy.

It was obvious to my colleagues that I was depleted and I spoke not

why or how-they knew not to ask. I was unable to even share as I

knew I would break out in tears-baring my soul to all.

The reiki master and I worked as partners and when she was

done-she looked straight into my eyes after the treatment and

said-“Oh Em; your heart chakra is broken and weak.” I was not

surprised, not at all. This awareness allowed me to focus my reikie95d7508204f05308d370fa16b347eed

treatments on the heart chakra; and now it is months later and

I am still feeling I need to focus much of my energy there.

If all of your chakras are not balanced you will notice a feeling

of imbalance and intuitively you will have an awareness of where.

Today’s focus is on raising awareness and educating

ourselves on the function of the heart chakra-for the next several

days we will become introduced to each of the chakras.

Day Forty-Do You Have the Force?-Star Wars as a Spiritual Playbook of the Universe and Beyond

After introducing ourselves to one another in my Reiki Level II class;

our lovely, soft spoken Reiki Master shared that we would be learning to

give distance healing to others and have the ability to use Reiki to heal

past and future experiences. In the Art of Japanese Usui Reiki Healing

Rei means-Universal/Spiritual Wisdom and Ki-means-The Life Energy.

Now Reiki is not a religious art it is a universal healing and scientific

art where the chakras become cleansed and can be aligned by therapeutic

touch. The healing “love” energy is pure and can be passed from the

practitioner to the patient even when the hands are not directly

on the body.

After learning of the new distant healing techniques our classroom

was a buzz with excitement and I said-“Wow, we really do have the

force.” A discussion in-sued and a former student now fellow student

of Reiki said he believed that Star Wars was a very Spiritual Saga

and that the undertones contained very strong and universal messages.

Of course; as coincidence or the source would have it my family had

been watching all of the films in the series over the past months-in

order and I had perceived the films from a more grounded and

spiritually connected place. I made the decision to research and

explore these connections for the this epic day 40; so while we were

watching Star Wars III yesterday I fervently scrawled down all of the

connections I witnessed throughout the film. Did George Lucas have

some connection spiritually to the story he weaved; one of the most

memorable film series that moulded people of all ages around the

globe. What was it about the series that sparked all people-from atheists

to the most devout Christians (there is a following of Christians online).

Was it the sizably epic battle between good and evil? The mystical nature

of The Force (both dark and light)? Was it the personal journey of the

characters that appealed to people? How trauma could cause someone to

become innately evil (Anni-Darth) or impenetrably heroic (Luke/Yoda/Obi Wan).

In some of the interviews that follow, George Lucas confirms the idea of

a universally spiritual undertone and message. Since he called this “The Force”

and did not make references to “God” or “Allah” or “Buddha”-he initiated

a meaningful viewing experience that focused on a desire for the innately good

(the Light Side of the Force) to prevail. Now any religion could interpret Star

Wars and make it fit their religious terminology. That was the point-George

Lucas wanted to be able to have audiences all over the globe-receive and

connect to the humanity within the films. He says in the interview below

that he left the films open to interpretation but embedded messages and

experiences that could move and connect all people no matter what their

religious affiliation or cultural norm. When Luke went to the forest to learn

from his master he was experiencing a vision quest-which is a shamanic

journey that Native Americans have gone on for centuries to connect with

their spiritual side.

If I compare “The Force” to living life as a very empathic and connected

person I can see the connections to both the light and dark side. I am

able to sense the innate goodness and light in people and can also

feel the darkness and penetrative negativity that oozes out of

psychic vampires (evil people). I try so very hard to not let the

darkness consume me but this is a skill I am still learning to deflect.

The gift of Reiki (my Force) has begun to give me the tools to protect

and heal my energy so that it is not hunted by others or if they do

penetrate the veil I can reconstruct myself and balance my energy

once again.

It is wonderful to have my eyes opened once again-the debris is

beginning to clear and I hope that I may keep the force with me.

“May the Force be With You Brothers and Sisters!”

Day Seven: Chakra Alignment and Balancing

I heard about the chakras when I was barely twenty and in my first years of University.

Though I pursued a spiritual path, I never really got to learn about what the Chakra’s were

really about. Speed forward twenty years…after doing yoga, reading countless spiritual

guides and doing morning and evening meditations, the chakras kept coming up.

Whenever I heard of the mysterious chakras I became very intrigued. When the stress was

severe I would even do a chakra cleansing meditation without truly knowing what they

were and what their spiritual role truly was. Four days after my medical leave I had a Reiki

Level One training session booked.

It was to last the full Sunday and my soul friend had asked me to go months prior. I

struggled with whether I had it in me to go. It was a full day and I had less than nothing left.

Something in me pushed me to go. It was there that I learned the true purpose of the

chakras and that the Reiki I was now attuned with would allow me to both heal my own and

others chakras with Rei Ki love energy. The reiki master did a training treatment on me and

said my heart chakra was very ill.

It was…With this training my world just opened up…

When you wake up in the morning think about what in your body, mind or spirit is out

of balance. What experiences have harmed you and how can you heal from them?
