Day Sixty-Three: “Laugh Your Ass Off”: The Healing Power of Belly Laughs


Have you ever been in the pit of hell and had a loved one reach out

to you; listen for a spell and then try their hardest to get a crack of

a smile to penetrate your firm porcelain face?

A great belly laugh that comes after you’ve weathered the storms

of pain can be akin to the ‘cigarette after sex’-satisfying and uplifting.

I remember taking a laughter yoga class (you will see a woman

do a TedTalk in a video coming up-doing just that with a huge audience)

may years ago-when it just began blooming as a form of healing-and

in this room full of strangers we were all instantly connected by the

contagious nature of our laughter. It was as though our formerly

impenetrable barriers faded instantaneously. It was like going to a

comedy movie. If you were to watch that same movie at home alone;

would as much laughter flow out of you as if you watched it at a theatre

or with a friend or two? No, likely not; because the magical thing about

laughter is its fanatically predictable trait-it is one of the most contagious

emotions out there.

I once heard a woman speak who had recently recovered from very

severe cancer-she felt that watching comedy movies with her life

partner and laughing hysterically everyday was what cured her cancer;

as well as alleviating the immense pain and discomfort while she healed.

By the way-did I mention she is now cancer free?

Laughter is also said to be akin to aerobic exercise-man that is really

good news to me; I decided yesterday that I would watch a female

comedian while I went about my creating yesterday and the laughter

that came with that made for a pretty diamond day!

Day Seven: Chakra Alignment and Balancing


I heard about the chakras when I was barely twenty and in my first years of University.

Though I pursued a spiritual path, I never really got to learn about what the Chakra’s were

really about. Speed forward twenty years…after doing yoga, reading countless spiritual

guides and doing morning and evening meditations, the chakras kept coming up.

Whenever I heard of the mysterious chakras I became very intrigued. When the stress was

severe I would even do a chakra cleansing meditation without truly knowing what they

were and what their spiritual role truly was. Four days after my medical leave I had a Reiki

Level One training session booked.

It was to last the full Sunday and my soul friend had asked me to go months prior. I

struggled with whether I had it in me to go. It was a full day and I had less than nothing left.

Something in me pushed me to go. It was there that I learned the true purpose of the

chakras and that the Reiki I was now attuned with would allow me to both heal my own and

others chakras with Rei Ki love energy. The reiki master did a training treatment on me and

said my heart chakra was very ill.

It was…With this training my world just opened up…


When you wake up in the morning think about what in your body, mind or spirit is out
