Day Forty-Nine: Lesson 5-Let Your Manipura Glow-The Solar Plexus Chakra

Our solar plexus is the core of who we truly are. Yesterday we looked

at the throat chakra and learned that in strengthening it we are able

to more freely speak our truth. When we balance and give our solar

plexus power we act our truth.

During my life I have tried very hard to grasp onto meaning wherever

possible and succumb to the powerful lessons I learn about how to

be a better person in our world. I think we all do? Do we? That is

a profound question-one worth exploring more…

When one is disconnected to their core or solar plexus (Manipura)

their self esteem is at stake and wavering-they begin to make snap

judgements about others as a way to temporarily soothe the

emptiness they feel within themselves. Think about it people,

have you ever felt evolved after talking nastily about a fellow

human being? I think not-as each nasty word flows from our

lips we are pushed further from our source of being.

The first time I did the pitta solar plexus meditation below I

felt like a glowing yellow paintbrush entered into my soul

and with its artistry created a masterpiece of solidity and

ethereal beauty. This meditation can be done at any time;

it is short but extremely powerful.

The Solar Plexus Chakra, located between the navel and solar plexus, is your power centre – your Core Self. While the Sacral chakra seeks pleasure and enjoyment, the third chakra is all about who you are.

 

The gift of this chakra is sensing your personal power, being confident, responsible, and reliable. The third chakra is the centre of your self-esteem, your willpower, self-discipline, as well as warmth in your personality.

The energy of this chakra allows you to transform inertia into action and movement. It allows you to meet challenges and mover forward in your life.

The main challenge for the third chakra is to use your personal power in a balanced manner. What does that mean? It means consciously harnessing the energy of the solar plexus chakra. It means being proactive rather then reactive or inactive.

People with excessive third chakra energy react to life circumstances, they have emotional outbursts and are often stressed out. People with blocked or deficient third chakra are passive and inactive – allowing life to pass by while they do nothing.

Strong third chakra reflects the ability to move forward in life with confidence and power. It reflects the ability to make conscious choices to choose and to act.

The message of the third chakra is: You have the power to choose. Your can choose to achieve your life purpose or you can live out your karma or past experiences.

What do you choose? Do you choose love, light and healing? Do you accept that you have the power to choose? Do you feel a sense of freedom when you make a choice?

The third chakra is the centre of your self-esteem. Every time you judge or criticize yourself, you deplete this chakra and weaken your willpower. Self love, self acceptance, and acknowledgement of your own worth are the building blocks of the third chakra.

A woman with an open and balanced Manipura Chakra values herself and her work, is confident in her ability to do something well, loves and accepts herself, is willing to express herself in a powerful way, knows that she has the freedom to choose to be herself and direct her own life.

Day Forty-Eight: Lesson 4-Visuddha/The Throat Chakra-There’s Power in Speaking Your Truth

Have you ever felt like you are holding your tongue more often than

you are speaking your truth? Yes there is honor in silence as the

great sages tell us. We try to be humble and kind and there is a 

sense that by saying nothing we are taking the higher ground. But

if we are silent for the wrong reasons it can be a slow and torturous

way to exist in your world. The more you hold your tongue the more

the words build up and then they reach the peek of resentment and

come tumbling down the mountain of truth. There is strength in

speaking your truth-even if the listeners of your truth may disagree.

If you are in a healthy relationship you should be able to say absolutely

anything that is on your mind (other than those nasty little hormonal

thoughts or the daggers that creep out after a shitty day). An unhealthy

relationship is one where you are constantly screening your inner script

and only saying what your co-partner would like to hear.

The key in speaking your truth can be to ensure that what you are saying

comes from a place of sincerity and honor. The last thing you want is to

leave a collaboration with someone only to beat yourself up for not

releasing those little gems or ideas or for not saying something that

maybe didn’t compliment the other person’s discourse. 

If you feel silenced in a relationship you may want to consider letting

it go, or if it is one you will not let go of, redefine your role with that

person by coming right out and saying what is unbalanced in that

relationship.

Day Six: Life as a Seriously Sensitive Empath

Since childhood I have been a very sensitive and empathic soul.

When someone in my vicinity hurt I felt the sting of their pain within

myself. This sensitivity and ability to feel both the joy and pain

of others has been both an unbelievable gift and a wicked curse.

My work with high risk children and youth has been enhanced by this

part of myself, but it also makes this work very exhausting and hard

to release at the end of the day. I reach the point where I need to

isolate myself from the consistent buzz of others in order to recover

from the overwhelming intensity of these empathic energies that

constantly penetrate my soul. I rely on morning and evening

meditations to prepare me and release these experiences.

When I confide in friends about the challenge of living life as

an empath, they suggest blocking these energies and letting

go; I still have yet to learn how and wonder if this is the answer.

If this is the gift which I believe it to be, I need to continue to

embrace this gift, but in doing this, learn to navigate life with

it in a more balanced, less vulnerable direction.

your day. Is there a point in your day where you can get out

in nature? If so make an effort to do this. Nature has a way of

rejuvenating any energies you may have lost throughout the day.

If you are able to be by a body of water, water is the most healing

tool for empaths.

Journal Entry: Consider what ‘lifts your spirit’, make a list of activities, items,

events, people ect. that connect you to your true self. Try to do at least 5 today.

Create: A Spirit Board: 

You’ll Need: A Canvas, Modge Podge, a number of various sized paint brushes, several colours of paint-(pick colours your drawn to).

Find, save and print or clip out of magazines images of things that entice your spirit and authentic self. You can also find quotes. Pinterest is a great site to find inspiration.
